Affordability

At Drs. Moss & Owen, we strongly believe that dental health is important to everyone! However the expense of dental care is a major hurdle many must overcome to receive the treatment they need. We strive to provide the highest quality dental care at the most affordable price to our patients. Your treatment plan will include a breakdown of all applicable fees, less any estimated insurance benefits, and we will inform you of all costs prior to any treatment being administered.

Drs. Moss & Owen is not a preferred provider for any specific dental insurance company; therefore, we are able to accept the majority of insurance plans. Additionally, we will submit all insurance claims for you, and in most cases file electronically for quicker reimbursement. We will fully attempt to help you receive full insurance benefits; however, you are personally responsible for your account, and we encourage you to contact us if your policy has not paid within 30 days.

Payment Options

Our practice offers a variety of financing solutions to make family dental care affordable in any budget. For the convenience of our patients, in addition to cash and personal check, we accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover as well as offer financing options through CareCredit. Fees are payable at the time of treatment.

In addition to these options, we offer monthly payment plans for orthodontic services and monthly pre-payment plans for comprehensive treatment. We also offer a 5% discount to all comprehensive treatment plans paid in full prior to the beginning of treatment. If special arrangements are needed, please feel free to contact our Patient Care Coordinator, Donna Unsworth, at 803.432.2155 with questions or for more information. We will review our payment options and strive to accommodate your financial needs.

Dental Insurance Benefits

Drs. Moss & Owen will process all insurance claims for all insurance companies. Therefore, we do not reject or accept patients based on their insurance provider. It is our strong philosophy that the treatment we prescribe is not dictated by the actions of the insurance companies. However, every effort will be made to maximize your insurance benefit so that you have to pay as little out of pocket as possible. We are happy to file your benefit claims, or allow you to file them yourself. Upon completion of a procedure, a claim can be submitted to the insurance company. If we file the claim for you, your insurance carrier will remit payment to our office. You will be asked to pay the estimated difference at the conclusion of the appointment. Additionally, you will be responsible for any remaining balance, if applicable, after the insurance company had remitted payment. If you would like to file the claim yourself, full payment is expected on the day of service.

Understanding dental benefit plans is not easy. There are as many plans as there are employers providing dental benefits. Your employer has selected your plan and is responsible for determining how your contract is designed. Dental benefit plans are good for patients, whether they cover the entire cost of treatment or not, because they help patients pay for the treatment they need.

It is important to realize that each contract, between the insurance company providing benefits and the employer, will specify what types of procedures are considered for benefits. A procedure may be excluded from your contract, even if it is necessary for your dental health and well-being. This does not mean that you do not need the treatment; it simply means that the company providing benefits will not pay for it. Cosmetic procedures and implants are typically excluded from dental benefits plans. Unfortunately, many patients allow their benefit restrictions to dictate their course of treatment.

If you have questions concerning your dental benefits, your employer's human resources department will be able to provide an explanation! Check out our dental insurance FAQs page as well to learn more!
